(Sorry for replying so late but I quickly browsed through the thread and 
nobody seems to have addressed this point)

The string is not trivial. In some languages they use different signs to 
indicate "?". I think that they use ";" in Greek, "؟" in Arabic, and then you 
have to consider all the other alphabets & variants out there. I might expect 
something similan in Hebrew since it's written right-to-left too.
