I agree with your comment re bug vs config but I've posted to kde-multimedia \
(http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-multimedia&m=117924093602211&w=2) and kde \
(http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde&m=118041714104206&w=2) and received only one reply that \
did not solve the problem. Submitting this bug report was the only way I could think \
of to get some assistance in solving the problem.
Re "arts backend": How do I go about that?
One final comment and a bit of (I hope) constructive criticism: This is not the first \
time I've had problems with sound under KDE. I'm not exactly a n00b so if I have \
problems what does the non-technical user think of KDE / Linux? It should not be this \
difficult to get such a basic facility operational. I can only hope that KDE4 \
presents a far more friendly face to the user community. If it doesn't, how can I \
help to ensure that it does?
