This is an anti-spam measure. We expect readers to be able to recompose
the mail address from it, but not spammer's robot collecting emalis.
BTW KMail in kde-3.1 recomposes the address automatically when pasting it.

- From source: yes you can do that, using either DO_NOT_COMPILE or
by only checking out the stuff you want to install. (Note that you need lib/
in all cases).
- From binaries: it depends on the packaging. With all-in-one koffice rpms,
you can't. If there is one package per app, then you can. Pretty obvious, no?

This has little to do with KOffice (see the FAQ on why there's no mailer in koffice, etc.)
(KOffice is about creating embeddable & printable documents).
Hmm, now I can't remember the name, but there's a well-maintained financial
app for KDE, developed out of KDE CVS. I curse my bad memory :)
Please check on apps.kde.com, I think you'll find it easily.
