Hey,

I was working on http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83499. What needs
to be done there is to mark unavailable buttons in the window
decoration KCM module. As the current button position widget
(http://sandro.giessl.com/files/kde/kwin_kcm_buttons1.png) was hard to
extend code-wise I want to rewrite it and improving usability while I
am at it.

Things I don't like with the current widget:
- Can _only_ be used via drag&drop. I think buttons would be good to
make it possible to use it via keyboard or so, alternatively to
drag&drop.
- Hardcoded colors and look from KDE 2 (?) times. The icons in the
pseudo-titlebar can be different from the current window decoration and
thus confusing to the user.

Trying to improve the situation I wrote a listview based widget
(http://sandro.giessl.com/files/kde/kwin_kcm_buttons2.png):
- drag&drop _and_ buttons
- dropped the preview completely as it's now possible to have live
decoration preview updates above.

As Lubos Lunak pointed out
(http://lists.kde.org/?l=kwin&m=109992026227558&w=2) it might not be
the best solution, though (90 degrees rotated, loss of obvious
drag&drop functionality). What do you think about it? Better ideas
anyone?

regards,
  Sandro
