There are many other ways to enable an application to propose other languages
than the language of the GUI.

For example, you could split the hangman program into two programs:

- the first main program remains almost unchanged, and appears to the user as
translated to his own language. For an Italian user, it's an Italian hangman.

- a small client program, hangman_client, just lists the words to guess on
standard output If you call it by setting the language to "de" in its
environment, it will list German words. This way, the Italian user can play
and guess German words.

- both programs are translated through the regular po mechanism.
