The only KDE apps that require the network transparent file access are those
apps that actually manipulate files! Granted, that describes *most* apps..
but apps like kbiff, kscd, kmix, etc have no need of kio.
Disclaimer: kbiff *does* use kio (I think -- it used to use kfmlib) but
that's "accidental".
