 i need to get this working asap - today would be nice!
 am quite happy to hack about but i'll try track keven down

 okay, there's also the issue that a usb floppy isn't actually
 a floppy:/ it's actually a generic scsi device.

 so something has to change to support floppy:/ linking to
 /dev/sda instead of /dev/fd0.

 i _would_ suggest doing away with floppy:/ but the behaviour of
 the floppy device code i would expect to be different - am i right?


 see ... this is for a distribution where the computers will have
 a USB card reader (no legacy floppy drive).

 so i'm a bit under pressure to get all this to work!
