Good defaults ARE very important. The definition of "good" is up for
discussion in this case. :) Either way, there should be a configuration
option for that sort of thing in the Control Center, but I still think it
would be better to have it on by default for the Windows-style but not for
KDE-style. Perhaps a better option would be to have autoplay enabled only if
the automounter is also. I wouldn't know how to check for that though, and
it would probably be a platform-dependent solution anyways.

No, it's not easy, but that's a different issue altogether in this case.
