I have since used this in my .bashrc
alias newplasma='pkill -f plasma-desktop; sleep 3; plasma-desktop > /dev/null
2>&1 &'

Whenever I see it cresting 1 gig I fire it off.  Anyone know how to automate it
based on memory consumption?
