I'm on OpenBSD 4.2 MP amd64 (dmesg follows); KDE/Quanta 3.5.7 and have
exactly 11800 files in my .webprj (1.1Mb in size) file, accessible by sftp
(compression turned on) on yet another OpenBSD 4.2 host.

Opening the project takes a few seconds to d/l the project file, a few
seconds to parse it. I don't automatically load any files or projects
when starting up Quanta. I'm ready to go in about 5 seconds.

My laptop (Debian testing; KDE/Quanta 3.5.9) is much slower (power
management) but still I am done within 10 seconds on the same project.

Oh and OpenBSD is not a 'distribution'. We don't all run Linux. :-P
