It's been like 3 years ago I used Mandriva. I there is an excelent 
grapical interface to install Quanta in Mandriva. Simple look in your 
menu's for something "install software", "remove software".

You should also be able to use command line and type something like 
urpmi install quanta ...

Mandriva is a good distro. It's for noobs and professionals so don't 
worry. Simple look at how you can install software via the KDE Mandriva 
interface.
