Eric,

Thanks for your quick reply. Following instructions in "README" I did
the following:
"./configure" then "make" (as user), then "make install" (as root). I
noticed as "make" was running that there were a number of warnings and
possibly errors, I can't recall, and, of course, I didn't watch the
whole "make" process.

This is my first compilation so I'm totally clueless about the process.
Will you be a bit more specific regarding your comment:

For that you can do as root in your *project directory*
chown [user].[group] -R *
And then start again from configure, possibly even doing a *make clean first*.

Prior to the just completed compilation, I tried numerous times to
compile the program without success because I wasn't in the correct
directory. In addition, though I unzipped the downloaded file I wasn't
at all sure that I had, in fact, unzipped it. so I did it again, and saw
that it did unzip the second time around. Another thing I did, after
failing to compile a few times, I deleted the down-loaded file and down
load a second time. So with all that fiddling, it's likely that I
screwed up the program.

Do you think it would be smart to delete everything again and start over?

Jerry.
