Welcome!  :)

I believe the problem you're experiencing is related to the ACPI stuff (oddly 
enough).  I believe the ACPI patch for the kernel allows it to share IRQs 
among devices.  Applying the ACPI patch to your kernel (make sure to get the 
right version for your kernel!) should allow your system to access the sound 
and ethernet at the same time.

And yes, your system sounds very similar to the r505DL here in the US, which 
is what I have.  I've heard that Mandrake runs well on the r505's, so it 
shouldn't be too hard to get it running.
