What? ... what?
If there is any caching (which I've never heard of), it certainly wouldn't
persist across invocations of Xpmac. The caching I think you're referring to
is that of kfm, the K file manager/web browser/ftp client, which performs
caching like any web browser. This means that revisits to your home directory
in kfm will load faster than the first time, but that has NO impact on video
performance.

The best bet is to A) erase the KDE that's installed with R4 and B) install
KDE 1.1 from ftp.linuxppc.org//linuxppc/users/gdt/redhat/RPMS/ppc/. Don't
forget to erase and upgrade QT as well. The performance difference is very
noticable; I think you'll be pleasently surprised. I'm sure kterm will be
better as well.
