Catherine Laws has written an excellent article on the Gnome Accessibility 
architecture.

Section 4.2 will be particularly of interest for KOffice developers.

Note that KDE doesn't have the tools yet for you to implement any of this, so 
this is just FYI and I don't expect KO devs to *do* anything about it.

Everywhere you see "GTK+", think "Qt/kdelibs".
Everywhere you see "gobject", think "QObject".
Everywhere you see "AtkObject", think "QAccessibleInterface".
Everywhere you see "ATK", think "whatever AT-SPI bridge KDE ends up 
implementing".
