ok I have a talk with one of their guy on irc, and he thinks that their 
protocol can't be used elsewhere, because their protocol heavily relies on 
a "document position" ( an index into abiword's document model) and it's 
unlikely that we could map it with kword own internal model. Plus, we want 
something that works for other apps than word processing. But, if we come up 
with a generic solution, they might be willing to use it. (or if later they 
come up with a generic solution, we could walk toward interoperability).

That's said, as suggested by ThomasZ, I am setting up a wiki to sum up our 
thoughts about this, more later.
