Not a candidate for a final example, but it came in handy for me one day. I 
couldn't access KWord anymore on my desktop (some faulty KWin or something). 
The only sollution I could find is to save my document so far via DCOP:

$ dcop kword-<pid> Document-? saveAs ~/backup.kwd

Might work with other applications as well, if you have no possibility to save 
it anymore.
