Hello all,
Like Hans, I'm a wannabe developer with the same problem, except this time
it's KPresenter. I want to make an import filter for PPT files (the filter
already exists, but just needs a little updating and completing, as far as I
understand from Shaheed).
The problem is while I find Shaheed's code fairly understandable, I couldn't
understand any of the OpenOffice PPT importer code. I don't speak German, but
I don't think that's the problem - the code looks very complex. It seems that
I need to recursively study every function called in the code in order to
understand something, and the functions go pretty deep.
I was wondering if there's any other way to get the information I need (PPT
file format specifications? or maybe some other open source program that
reads PPT?)
If there isn't, does any of you guys happen to have any tips that could make
it a little easier for me to understand the OpenOffice source code? Maybe I'm
approaching the problem the wrong way - maybe I should use some debugging
tool? Or first read some OpenOffice SDK documentation? (it doesn't seem to
cover import filters as far as I know.) How would you approach a problem like
that?
I'm sorry for troubling you with newbie questions but I'm really lost in all
this mess. And I believe it's for a good cause.
Thanks,
Michael Goldish
