which is why this solution:

is NOT a solution. It's exactly what you don't want: having to open
the config dialog before each polygon being inserted.

Personnally, I think it'd be easier to ask for number of sides in the polygon
before every insertion. If I want to make 10 polygons the same, I just copy
and paste them.

But this might be a special case. The rest (colors etc.) doesn't work the same,
better have a default value indeed.
