I'm using koffice-2.0.1. I compiled it from the source which I downloaded.
It sort-of-maybe has the filters, but they don't work.
In the Open dialog, there's this entry:

MS Winword 97 ()

When I use this entry, all files are visible, but I get an error message
when attempting to open a .doc file. The message says " Could not import
file of type application/msword".
Kspread does the same thing; the Open dialog has a choice of:

MS Excel 97 ()

Again, all files become visible, but any attempt too load a .xls file result
in the "Could not import file of type application/msexcel"

Neither Kword not Kspread list a similar choice in the 'Save As' dialog.

Maybe those empty '()' things give a clue about a possible bug?

Neil.
