Obviously, you could have import/export filters for rtf and html. However,
these aren't much good as "native formats". rtf is too "physical" and html
is fairly limited.

Having said that, the Koffice people much to their credit *are* using an
"open format", at least as open as possible. Koffice is xml based. xml is
a general method for defining document formats ( so the fact that two
different document formats are xml based doesn't make them interchangeable
). However, the fact that they've used xml will make it easier to write
filters.
