I have also advocated such an approach on this list; and I provided a proposal 
on how to accomplish it (using a rdbms framework).  This method could be 
further extended to encompass other data types, such as addresses and 
scheduling.

This has not generated much of a response through the mailing list -- although 
the responses received have been positive.  A copy of one such response is

The trouble is, I am not a member of the KDE group and do not have C++ 
programming experience.  However, I do have significant experience developing 
complex web applications (OO perl, MySQL, mod_perl, fastCGI).  I also have an 
application which demonstrates this approach as well as professional 
documentation.

Are there any suggestions on who to speak with on getting involved with such 
an effort?
