This is in no way related to using KMail. You'd have the same problems 
with any other mail client. If you really used sendmail instead of 
using the SMTP server of your ISP then it's not surprising that your 
mail was rejected. Many servers reject direct connections from non-mail 
server (because direct connections are often used by spammers).

Since you've already switched back to using the mail server of your ISP 
it should work now, unless your ISP's server is also blocked for some 
reason. Maybe your messages are now blocked due to your earlier 
attempts. Only cutter will be able to tell you why your messages don't 
arrive.
