If I understand the situation correctly, then the server scripts need to 
be updated anyway for the move to subversion. Renaming some modules / 
directories should not really be more work.

We already have most of these redirects: For example,  
http://www.kde.org/areas/accessibility redirects to 
http://accessibility.kde.org/

We would just need to ensure that redirects for all subsites are in place, 
and set up subdomains for those subsites that are still missing.

The subsites would not be mirrored any longer, but I don't think this 
would be a big problem, because the mirrored subsites are currently 
nowhere linked. Having mirrors that no one knows about doesn't help 
anyone anyway.
