Hi,

I just read about the release of KDE 3 Beta 1. There is a guide on how to
set up kde 2 and kde 3 side-by-side:

http://www.kde.org/kde2-and-kde3.html

Perhaps you could add the following remark somewhere in that page:

start->

You can even run KDE 2 and KDE 3 at the same time. For that just do the
following:

Start a second instance of your X-Server, best do it on a Text-Console:

	X :1.0 vt08

This starts a Server on the virtual console 8, you can reach that with
Ctrl-Alt-F8.
Now you login on another console and set the environment variables
correctly, see below. Then set the DISPLAY variable according to the new
X-Server:

	export DISPLAY=:1.0

Now you can start KDE 3:

	/home/bryce/kde3binary/bin/startkde

Now you should have your "old" KDE on console 7, reachable via Ctrl-Alt-F7
and besides that the new KDE on console 8, reachable via Ctrl-Alt-F8.

<-stop

This is a nice tip for many people, which do not yet understand the
X-Server system so well.
So they don't always have to logout from their old window manager (perhaps
kde) to test the new one.

My English is not that good, but you get the idea, right? ;-)

thanks, Holger
