Quite true. But since this is a new list and a new project we are trying to
establish a method of doing this. I can't wait till we get the usability
testing in full swing and reports comming in quite often. I don't want this
to be an extension of bugs.kde.org, but their format is pretty good for
keeping track of what is going on and status of stuff. We will need this so
we can maintain what is in the database. Not only the maintainers, but
everyone can submit a report about a certain app. This can be their
friend(new linux user) observations about a certain app. Since I'm the
Kicker maintainer, I don't want to have to do all the reports. I want more
than one point of view. I do plan on working with a few friends of mine to
get some feedback from them. My proposed database is just IMHO a good way of
keeping track of this. It will also tell us if and when the usability issues
have been addressed. We will also be able to comment in there if the
proposed changes in usability make for a coding nightmare. I was just trying
to design a flexable robust database that we could use to achieve what we
want. Please note that my suggestions are only that, my suggestions. They
are always on a take it or leave it basis. I won't be offended if everyone
thinks that my suggestions are off track. I have been wrong once or twice in
my life. :) Since KDE2.2 is to be released on 8/13, most of the usability
reports that are written now will need to be re-evaluated after then. I hope
that more people get involved to not only submit suggestions to this mailing
list, but to get friends and family to evaluate certain applications and
either submit usability reports or send them here so we can discuss them.
