Probably true, but I put it in such way -- icon+text buttons are much
better than icon buttons + tooltips.

Now I am puzzled, so what this feature would do? Previously you wrote
about clicking, but you cannot do this because clicking means "do
this", not "show help".

So if it should be default it has to work differently.

I agree here.
Remark: I am not entirely sure that the weekend user is ready for
learning keyboard shortcuts. I can hardly imagine someone relying
entirely on toolbar and on the other hand eager to learn default
shortcuts.
Weekend-users are not explorers, they are just survivors.
