 o it is an item you use exactly once per session, if at all.
 o it is sitting on prime realestate (the panel) where lots of clicking goes 
on. accidental clicks are easy to make (and do happen)
 o it is duplicated in the kmenu, where people are very familiar w/it. this is 
different than any other applet
 o kicker's default layout is too crampt
 o the reason why these buttons are their own applet is that when they were a 
part of the system tray they weren't very optional (most really need the sys 
tray) and so all the above problems kept biting people. with it seperated, 
those affected just remove it from their panel. this progression of events 
probably speaks to the fact that it is not a god default candidate.
