The single vs double debate has little in common with the issue above.  I've 
spent quite a bit of time on google trying to find out some real user testing 
data (or even a good analysis) of the single click/web page interface that MS 
introduced with Win98. It is pretty much widely accepted that double clicking 
is tricky to learn for some people.  But I've so far failed to find a study 
about the "single click/Web page" interface from MS.  Eliminating double 
click sounds easy, but as we have discussed on this list, it brings other 
kinds of complications.  It is simply not clear cut what the bigger picture 
is.
