you might be surprised. grahpical interfaces are not all that "intuitive".
even advanced users usually benifit from a "that K icon is the applications
menu, you can add new things to the panel by right clicking and choosing
add->, the control center is where all the configuration options are, etc.."

after thinking about this idea over night i think what would be REALY cool is
a click 'n explore type app. i got to thinking about this while watching my
son play a child's computer game. the way most of those games work is that
the player is presented with a screen showing the different options and they
are asked (usually w/audio) to click on one of the objects. clicking on the
object takes them to another screen that largely repeats the process.

if upon logging in for the first time a brief overview of the desktop was
given with a screenshot of the entire desktop (audio and text with an arrow
pointing to the various parts) and then the user was allowed to click on
things they wished to explore to get more information the user could explore
as much or as little of the desktop as they wanted to.

i don't think this would need to be completed all in one go. just the intro
piece would be vastly useful (one screenshot, a bunch of text and optionally
some audio with an arrow pointing things out on the screenshot).

over time, as various parts of kde become more "solidified" other pages can be
added and access by clicking on hot spots on the screenshot (e.g. kicker).
parts of the actual documentation could even be integrated eventually.

perhaps by making it more interactive and multimedia users might actually
spend a few minutes taking in documentation =)
