I'd also like to have that dialog box optional.

I once read a good article about the Americans liking wizards (and in real
world, people coming up to other persons offering help), while Europeans
don't like wizards that much, but want to initiate the action themself (in
the real world, Europeans won't approach other offering help and don't like
being approached, but are just as helpful if you ask them). I actually
simplified the whole thing here, but what I want to say is basically that
some people like to be offered all available options, while others just feel
annoyed by being offered (too) much help (and thus delaying the real work,
even if it's just one click/return too much. I agree with you, that this one
step just distracts me from *my* line of thought. As usual, other feel
differen.).

I usually know what I want to do, and I don't want the computer to ask me if I
want to do that, or that, or that, or that. However, I'm sure many people
like that dialog, so by default I think it should be turned on, but I'd like
the option to turn it off. That was one of the first things I did with corel
draw and with WinZip (on the very few occasions I'm using Windows, of course
;-) )
