then you'd have to look up the address in the book every time you pull up the 
context menu instead of just when the user wants to add the address. not good 
for performance i'd imagine....

this removes the nice, swift functionality of this feature.. as someone who 
uses this feature, i'd say that would be highly annoying. =)

how about an "Add Address To Contact" item in the menu? (only worded better 
than that ;-) ... something like:

Add As New Contact...
Add and Open In AddressBook...
Add to Existing Contact...
