And notice his language: "Linux failed in that regard.". The paste tense. 
Rather than "Linux fails" or "Linux is failing". He clearly has his head too 
far up his own arse to look at the current state of Linux/UNIX desktops.

We have a long way to go yes, although it doesn't deserve down-right 
dismissal.
