Thanks Rex

I downloaded it and tried. XWindow did not work properly. When the Graphical
boot screen came up, the right hand screen of my dual head system lit up, but
the screen was gray with green and blue vertical lines. When the log in scren
tried to come up the same thing happened and then I got dumped to the
console.

Like I said, until the XWindow problems get solved I guess I will have to
stick with Fedora 8 for the time being.

Eli

Indeed, it is nice to have the Show Desktop back and the new KRunner is great
:-) Now trying to get the hang of Folder View.

I will comment on some of what you have found, with my update 4.0.80 >
4.0.82

Yes I saw this as well, just had to reset it in the Kmail Config to UK-English

I think this was a patch by one of the KDE Sig people to allow moving of items
in the Panel ? appoligies if I am wrong. I miss this feature.

I just tested this with Kmail and Kwrite and all works as it should here,

Yes confirmed here, Bug #163770

> . The configuration option "Enable taskbar notification", in System

Yes confirmed again, have not found the bug # on this one yet,

I don't see this on this machine.

Other small problems seen here that other users maybe seeing:

Missing thumbnails in taskbar # 162943

No multiple rows in the taskbar #163935

I had a problem turning off the Tool tips as on occasion my machine would lock
for a while (4.0.5) now I can't turn them on, maybe related to this #155432

All in all I think these latest release are excellent!

Cheers,

I saw later that even my identities which were configured to use the pt-
BR dictionary were also changed to en-Australia (!). All of them had
this dictionary configured after the upgrade.

It seems this one is a bit more complicated. It does not happen always,
but it happens often. After a few logins/logouts, the arrows work and
stay this way until I logout. There was one time when the arrow keys
were working, but then the "e" key would work only if pressed together
with meta (!). A real mess. I will have to study this a little more
before a file a bug.
Also, the khotkeys daemon is not working here (System configuration ->
Advanced -> Services manager), so my shortcuts don't work. I thought I
had lost them after upgrade, but they are there. They just don't work
because khotkeys is not running. Is it running at your machine?

Another thing that troubles me a little is that sometimes the tips shown
when you hover the mouse over a widget do not disappear when the mouse
goes away. Worst, they stay on top of other windows, sometimes on all
desktops. Does this happen to anyone else?

Thanks,

Marcelo

I'll keep trying to reproduce this but so far all seems fine on this box, it
is going to be one of the hard ones to track down I guess.

Yes Khotkeys is running, I also created a few shortcuts and all worked fine,

I have not seen this problem since 3.5.x, sorry this reply does not help you
much. I guess someone may ask what video drivers etc, I use NVidia hardware
and Livna's rpms and have just started to play with the Desktop Effects and
all is working well.

I have just found KGet still does not work, I thought it was fixed in trunk so
I'll check kde.bugs and the kget mail lists. Does this work for anyone else?

Also some missing Icons in Konq's search engine bar (google for example)

Cheers

Turns out this one's easy, kmix now starts automatically and changed launch options \
(?). quick-n-dirty fix is remove kmix references from:
/usr/share/kde-settings/kde-profile/default/share/config/ksmserverrc
or maybe even remove that file altogether.

We snarfed that patch from OpenSUSE. Made me nervous because it never
went upsstream. Guess what? It never did, and the patch doesn't apply
against 4.1.

Good news is that we've got at least one of our kde-sig'ers to commit to
work on this (with upstream plasma devs) properly this time, and if all
goes well, will land in time for 4.1

I was editing an email in Kmail once (have not tried again) and found that I
was unable to move the cursor. I tried the arrows and clicking with the mouse,
but there was no way to get a cursor into the text to edit the mail, so I was
forced to send as it was (fortunately only a missing period at the end of one
line).

Alos, the number lock never comes on when starting kde. I have it set both in
the bios and in kde to come on at boot, but it doesn't in kde.

I have multimedia keys on my keyboard that I have mapped with xmodmap and
setkeys and made a script to run at login in Autostart. xev reports that all
is working and shows me the correct xkeysyn or whatever it is called, but when
I create hotkeys? in the system settings, I am unable to even type these
characters. The input window for the key remains empty and there is no way for
me to enter the desired key.

Yes, a couple of times, pieces of the tool tip widget remains on the screen,
both on the 'desktop' or wallpaper, or on the window of an application. To get
rid of them, you have to hover the mouse over another icon and generate a new
tool tip. Curiously, I have tool tips disabled in the window frame, but they
show up anyway.

If konqueror is programmed to start an instance in memory for faster loading,
then upon boot, it doesn't just load in the background, but actually opens a
window.

The slideshow screensaver has been a problem for many years and has still not
been fixed correctly. The culprit is always the transition with the dots in
which a new image appears through pixels of the old one until the transition
is effected. I wish they would just trash this transition, as all of the others
work perfectly. As I said, this has been a recurring problem since kde3 early
and I have mentioned it a number of times on fedora forum or the fedora
mailing list.

pieces of the tool tip widget remains on the screen, both on the 'desktop' or \
wallpaper, or on the window of an application. To get rid of them, you have to hover \
the mouse over another icon and generate a new tool tip. Curiously, I have tool tips \
disabled in the window frame, but they show up anyway.
<p \

start an instance in memory for faster loading, then upon boot, it doesn't just load \

-qt-block-indent:0; text-indent:0px; -qt-user-state:0;">The slideshow screensaver has \
been a problem for many years and has still not been fixed correctly. The culprit is \
always the transition with the dots in which a new image appears through pixels of \
the old one until the transition is effected. I wish they would just trash this \
transition, as all of the others work perfectly. As I said, this has been a recurring \
problem since kde3 early and I have mentioned it a number of times on fedora forum or \
the fedora mailing list.
<p style="-qt-paragraph-type:empty; margin-top:0px; \
