I have noticed and I have been using it for more than twelve hours. Several
remarks:

1) konqueror has been more stable (not a single crash as compared with beta 1)

2) in kontact some key shortcuts are not working, it is not possible to switch
between parts using Ctr+# where # is a digit.

3) in kmail Ctr+N does not produce a new message although it says so in the
menu. Funnily and probably related the option of New Message appears twice in
the key shortcuts dialog.

4) the networknamager icon does not show in the system tray.

5) I really enjoy the new look. :-)

Thanks Rex, its working very well indeed with my initial tests so far, and
Konq seems much more stable with 4.0.82

Nice to see some new Plasmoids available, so don't forget to download
kdeplasmoids :)

Cheers

Noticed that kdebindings has not been released for 4.0.82.

Got kdeplasmoids. My favourite, the picture frame, is not working correctly.
In the old extragear package, the picture frame remained set at a fixed
position on the screen, regardless of the size of the image, so that it was
always centred vertically and never ran off the edge of the screen
horizontally. Now, it jumps around all over the place, sometimes at the top,
sometimes centred vertically, but often running off the screen on the right or
left edge (I have it positioned a bit right of centre to make room for other
plasmoids, and before it worked nicely). There also used to be a setting to
have plasmoids align to a grid: this seems to have disappeared in this
release. Perhaps that is why the picture frame does not remain within the
confines of the screen?

Ditto... no networkmanager icon in systray and I haven't had enough time to
see if the reminder daemons stay on.

Yes, this is really looking up.

Correct, most, but not all of the gtk-systray-applet fixes made it into 4.0.82. Word \
is that 4.0.83 should finally put that to rest.

I've just upgraded from 4.0.5 to 4.0.82 and have to say it's MUCH better
now :) Several of the bugs that were driving me mad have gone. Of
course, many are still there and some new ones are present too, but KDE
have improved a lot.
Some of the bugs on the new version:
. After upgrading, all of my configured kmail accounts disappeared (in
and out accounts)
. The Navigator toolbar of Kontact is empty (the navigator_actionlist is
empty)
. The configured dictionaries for my kmail identities where changed from
english-United States to english-Australia (!?)
. All my configured shortcuts were lost after the upgrade (global and
application specific)
. It's not possible to move plasmoids over the plasma panel anymore
. When the plasma panel is placed vertically, it does not remember its
size and position when I logout. It doesn't even remember the plasmoids
that were added to it while it was vertical. Everytime I logon, its back
horizontally at the botton of the screen.
. This one is really driving me mad: kwrite, kate and, of course, the
edit window of kmail, don't move the cursor up and down when the
corresponding arrows are pressed (!?). However, the left and right
arrows work ok. The up and down arrows of the numeric keypad, when
numlock is off, work too.
. The icons in notification area are placed very oddly when the panel is
in vertical position. Also, the icons are messed up (even those of KDE
applications - see attached image)
. When a CD/DVD or a removable storage device is plugged, the new
removable media window is opened. However, if the "open in a new window"
action is chosen, an error is shown ("it was not possible to list the
URL system://media/sdxx"). Obviously, the folder in which the device was
mounted was not named after its device name.
. KMix window always starts opened after logon
. If the slideshow screensaver is selected and one specific transition
effect is used by it when it runs, kwin goes to 95%-98% of CPU and
freezes. It's necessary to restart X (CTRL+ALT+BS) to use the GUI again.
The problematic transition effect is the one in which dots of the new
image are drawn over the old one until the new image is complete.
. The configuration option "Enable taskbar notification", in System
Configuration -> Desktop -> Launch Notification, can not be disabled
(after closing the system configuration tool, it's reenabled by itself)

And others I can't remember now. I've filed bugs for some of these and
added info for bugs that were already opened, but I still have to file
bugs for several others.

Out of curiosity, there's a folder named "virtual-drives" that insists
in reappearing in my home dir. What is it for?
