Anyone have ideas about the HAL problem?

It doesn't really look feasable to upgrade HAL so that the media:/ options of
KDE will work again. I really don't want to touch glib just to get that.

Creating my own fstab entry for sda1, sdb1, etc is one option that works. But
that isn't as nice as the auto created /media/ directories that el4 can do.

In the meantime, you can use nautlius to automount your usb drives.that still
works.I am in same position as you.I am doing that only.

Hi Rex

On upgrade of kdelibs-libkdnssd I get

/sbin/ldconfig: relative path '1' used to build cache
error: %postun (kdelibs-libkdnssd-3.5.4-3.0.fc5.kde.i386), scriplet failed,
exit status 1

Leaving behind the previous version of kdelibs-libkdnssd

To fix the problem I had to run

rpm -e --nodeps --allmatches --noscripts kdelibs-libkdnssd

Then reinstall the package.

Eli

Confirmed that the %postun scriptlet kdelibs-libkdnssd borks... The
scriptlet snippet in kdelibs.spec is:

%if "%{?libkdnssd:1}" == "1"
%post %{libkdnssd} -p /sbin/ldconfig

%postun %{libkdnssd} -p /sbin/ldconfig

%endif

Can't imagine how/why the %postun scriptlet would fail. ????

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] screen blanking out
Message: 5

Hi Everyone.

I believe that this was discussed before, but I can't find it in the mailing
list. So if it was could someone point me to the right dates. Or let me know
how to fix this.

What's going on is that my screen is blanks out after 2 minutes of inactivity.
And I can't seem to get it to stop on a permanent basis.

I've configured X so that when I first log into kde everything is fine. I lock
my screen and the screensaver comes on and still everything is fine. But,
after I unlock my screen and don't touch my keyboard and mouse for 2 minutes
the screen goes blank. All power saving features in kde are off and I don't
have my screensaver come on automatically. The only way that I've found fix
this is to restart X Windows.

Any advice about how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Eli

Can't offer much advice myself, I've never been able to reproduce it.
What distro/release are you using again?

FC5 - testing. This has been going on for some time. Just haven't gotten
around to trying to fix it until this week.

I've thought about this a bunch, and especially since we've phased-out
support for (very) old distro/releases, the there's no longer any real
need for including updated versions of some core/os packages(*) in the
kde-redhat repo.

Are there any objections if I removed these? I'll probably, at least
temporarily, move them into a separate repo called 'outgoing' (or
extras?) or something like that.

(*) These include:
ghostscript
ImageMagick
redhat-artwork
samba
