What happens if e.g. there's a security problem in samba, a user has
installed the package from kde-redhat, fedora issues a fix, but yum
thinks the old kde-redhat-package is newer?

Did you ever realize how much text fits in eighty columns? If you now consider
that a signature usually consists of up to four lines, this gives you enough
space to spread a tremendous amount of information with your messages. So seize

Yeah, that's a concern alright which will probably only affect el folks
the most, since el usually backports security/bug fixes whereas fedora
usually upgrades to latest/upstream versions.  Folks with newer
kde-redhat pkgs will end up having to fix things manually.
