nearly all the crashes i've seen reported for 4.1.0 are packaging screw ups. 
i'm seeing more feature requests than functionality errors, and nearly no 
actual crashes that aren't attributable to packaging screw ups.

unless your kded4 is crashing, it should work just consistently.

there's already one reported for "add gui to set keyboard shorcuts on widgets" 
which is the issue here.
