There may be a standard for it, already. DateBk5 kinda sets the standards
for datebook extensions (but I haven't got it, and pilot-link doesn't
support them natively).

C++, of course :) Search for setNote or setDescription, that's probably a
sensible place to be looking. In addition, you might want to read
kpilot/lib/pilotDatabase.h and kpilot/lib/pilotDateEntry.h.
