What happens is that the handheld and KOrganizer now have two overlapping 
events for those times.  I just made a screenshot of what I get (88 KB):

To produce that, I entered a 13:00 - 16:00 appointment in the palm, then 
entered a 14:00 - 15:00 appointment in KOrganizer and did a sync.  Something 
similar comes up on my palm.

FYI:
Palm m505
KPilot 4.3.4 (head), using VCal Conduit from Adriaan de Groot
set to fast sync
set to 'ask for every conflicting item'
