Hi,

some suggestions for KMail from KDE v3.0.1:

- Better integration of HTML mails
some mailing lists send there mailings in HTML, not as attached HTML :-(
As I don't like HTML in general (but those mailing lists) I always have to
switch between HTML/plain text display. That's a bit annoying. I think there
should be some improvement. The most simple way (my opinion) would be to ask
for every HTML mail if it should be displayed as rendered HTML or not. I
could live with that. An improvement could be to let KMail choose if it
should render HTML or not by the use of some filters. You could filter by
sender, subject... If KMail can't find a valid filter, it could show it as
plain text or ask what to do (with the ability to create a filter).
In short words: do it the way Konqueror handles cookies.

- Signatures: what about multi signatures, e.g. so that you can easily switch
between private or business signature.

- "New Message": what about templates here?
They should be some kind of those "Phrases". You should be able to set some
free text with some variables (%...). There should be variables for
KAddressBook lookups, and of course those used by "Phrases". Now the "New
Message" menu/toolbar item should have a subitem for every template. I think
it's useful to setup some default emails like formal letter to your customer,
private email to a friend...

- "Phrases": I've setup KDE with german translations, but I want to use
international introductions like "On %D you wrote". If set the language to
"English", the text is English, but date is German. I think this should be
fixed.

- IMAP: I use IMAP to manage my emails, but my IMAP server isn't always
available. If I want to write some emails now and start KMail, there's a
popup for every IMAP mailbox I've configured, telling me that the server's
not available. I think it would be better, if KMail would not show those
popups, but show that state e.g. with the help of the IMAP folder's icon.

- IMAP(2): I don't know if it's a bug or a feature ;-) but I can't create a
filter that moves emails to some IMAP folder.

- Selecting addresses in the email composer window
I (and a lot of others too) think that it's very difficult to find some email
address in it if have a lot of contacts. It gets even more worse if you add
recently used email addresses. There had been some discussion in
kde-usability list which led to the attached GUI. It's not finished yet, but
it's in a state all people liked it.
It would be nice if this list could tell us its opinion.
There's one point we haven't finished discussion yet, since I think it should
be done here: where to implement this email selection dialog. In KMail or in
the KABC library? We think it should go to the library so that (possible)
other email clients could use it too.
I don't know who wants to implement it, but I think I could do it. It would be
my first KDE contribution and I don't know how this works. Let's say that I
have implemented and tested it. Who will check if it's ready to include in
KDE and who will put it into the KDE-CVS?

Hope to here from someone...

Kind regards,
Andreas
