For quite a time I am thinking about a new feature in the window management: Adding a
shadow to windows. By this I mean not only having a black line on the right and bottom end
of it, but a real shadow, which darkens the underlying window or desktop. For each window
a "flight height above desktop" should be calculated, depending on when it last was
raised. Then the shadow should be bigger or smaller, depending on the difference between
the window and the underlying window or desktop. That means, the shadow of one window
could have a different widths.
I admit, it is not an easy task, but I think it would improve the look a lot, because it
would be much easier to for the user to optical seperate the windows.

What do you think about this?

Dirk
