OS/Compiler notes: 

Verified with cvs head and 2.2.2:

If kate runs on, e.g., virtual desktop 1,  and you try to start
a second kate in another desktop
(mode "restrict to single instance"), nothing happens :(
well just looks like ;) There's no change to desktop 1 +
raise+activate of 1st kate.   
This looks like kate is broken.

Please do the same as kmail or
kate + file arg:  change to desktop
with the already running kate
and raise+aktivate kate.
