Heya hetz,

If it was to be written in pure Qt, the installer wouldnt be that big
would it? Even so...if Konqueror/E can be made static and be small, I
cant image it would be a great amount larger.

I think the key is in seperating front end from back end, and we can
certainly learn from Red Carpet. I seriously think a distributed file
sharing option woul dbe great for at times when the servers are bogged
down (such as release time).

I also think some kind of standardisation should be sought across
distros. Maybe we could speak with some distros to focus on a KDE based
installed. I dunno...so many options...

3 people if I count correctly ;)

1. Ilya - who is modifiying the Red Carpet - I belive you should see the

results within a week or so..
2. Nick - on Kinstaller
3. Mark Webb - although I'm not sure about him...

The problem is - even if you cut corners and make static binary of
KDE/QT to
be included on the installer (remember - installer size DOES matter!) -
then
you can quickly passes the size of the original (3MB), which would make
the
installation painful for dial-up users...
