Hi Heiner
I only use a distri as a bootstrap to get started. Once I have a working system, I
go out and get all the sources for what I want on my system and rebuild things.
That way I get a setup where I have what I want and need without having to put up
with stuff I'll never use. (try that with Microslop ;-) )
Anyway, I started with Slackware 'cause they don't include too much fluff but
mostly, it's all my own builds.
I did not try a binary distribution. It's against my religion ;-)
Suse is a very good distro if you want a load-and-go type distro (lots of toys and
value added without breaking the standards too much). It's much better than Redhat
IMHO.
I'll probably try playing with the release 2.2 agian at a later date. Right now I
have quite a few other thing that need doing.
