for me, it's not that bad - it just doesn't work (after typing
the password nothing happens).
for my part everyhing seems to work fine - "kcmshell kdm" from
a root shell gives the expected results. running kcontrol in a
root shell works well, too.
it's the integration via kdesu and kcmshell, that fails. :-(
