Well the point was that if they hide the taskbar, then that's their choice -
they will realise that they don't get notification that an app is starting.

I'm just trying to find a practical solution. IMO putting something under
the mouse cursor isn't the best plan, but that's just IMO. This has
been debated for a long time on the various lists, but no-one has found
a perfect solution - there was that blinking light on the panel, which
thankfully seems to have been dropped.

If anyone comes up with a solution that will work regardless of window
manager, visibility of panel, etc, then I'll be glad to hack it.
