Man pages have traditionally been compressed with compress, and on most
Linux systems, compress is gzip, since gzip can read compressed and gziped
files.

So technically this is a bug in Mandrake, not KDE.

P.S. I certianly hope you're not putting the kernel through a man page viewer.
