I find it really sad to see people blaming us for not caring about our users. 
That's quite a heavy blow, considering the amount of time I invested to ensure 
that Qt 5 applications get a drop in replacement for the system tray. 
Considering the time I spent to inform distributions several months a-head of 
the change to get them do their packaging right. Considering that I wrote the 
blog post you linked. I think it should show enough that we did care about our 
users to ensure everything works will, including providing work around 
solutions if it doesn't.

Of course I'm not happy that proprieatary Qt 5 applications do not work, but 
you can hardly blame us for it or demand that we write code to get closed 
source software integrated. To make it quite clear: I will not invest a minute 
of work to get dropbox client work, if all that's needed for dropbox is fixing 
their packaging (skype can do it, right?). If that is a problem for you 
consider using free software alternatives like owncloud.
