I'm not a developer but as they said, they have little time for this. I
think is better that a new team acts as link between developer and final
users.

We can open a wiki for people to post their wish feature, and later, make
the users vote to se which feature is wanted the most,

Then so we can contact the developer(s) and pass them this info to discuss
what will be in and when.
